PTHS and Pontiac Chamber of Commerce Hold Job Marketplace

Thank you to Boys & Girls Club, Evenglow, IHR, Johnson Press, KSR, LSC, McDonald’s and Pontiac Parks and Rec for coming out to our Job Marketplace Tuesday. We had a great turnout of students and hope to give them a leg up on jobs these businesses have to offer. Thanks to PTHS Betsy Westergreen, Career and Community Services Coordinator and Business Teacher for all her hard work putting this together for our business community.

Chamber Serves as Drop off for Troops

The Livingston County Farm Bureau, along with other local businesses are teaming up to collect international phone cards and items to be sent to our military personnel for the holidays. You can drop your donations are at the Farm Bureau office, any Bank of Pontiac Location, the Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce or the Fairbury Chamber of Commerce offices by November 14th. A partial list of items:

Hot chocolate/hot cider packets. jerkey/ slim jims, summer sausage, small boxes of crackers and cheese and crackers, multi-vitamins, men’s white and black crew socks, brown, white and tan t-shirts, canned fruit, tuna or canned chicken/soups, suitable small gifts, sweat pants, blanket throws, batteries, etc…

District 429 STEAM Tour

Tim Johnson, OSF, Tom Hinz, CAT and Cat were invited by District 429 Superintendent, Brian Dukes, to take a tour of the STEAM classrooms this week. It was an amazing time and we were quite impressed with the evolution of education and how up-to-date the district is with the technology they are using, but also in the way things are being taught. It was a great tour and we encourage anyone who would like to see for yourself, to contact the school and take this great tour. Special thanks to Brian and his staff for taking this time with us. Us “grown-ups” learned more than a thing or two.

MOSAIC Issues & Eggs

Social Media Workshop

We hosted our first information workshop and this one covered Social Media and how to add it to your marketing plan. Students from PTHS and Career and Community Services Coordinator, Betsy Westergreen explained to the group the different social media platforms and what they are used for. Cat then lead a round table discussion on how to apply these platforms to marketing their businesses. So, many experiences and ideas were shared and we look forward to setting the date on a follow-up.
