Larry & Shirley Hackmann
Thousands of people lined the streets of downtown Pontiac to enjoy the annual Threshermen’s Parade by the Pontiac Area Chamber of Commerce. Favorites were the Navy Band Great Lakes, South Shore Drill Team, the PTHS Marching Band and the various Shriner Clubs.

Larry & Shirley Hackmann from Washington, IL were dressed in clothes from the 1860s and danced behind the Flanagan-Cornell Band. Their dress represented the era near the end of Threshing on the farm. Larry, as a child, worked as a water boy for a threshing crew in the the early 1950s.

All along the parade route, Nathan Joerndt, this year’s Grand Marshal, was greeted with cheering crowds.

This year year more than 15 floats were in the parade. The winner of the Wilbur J. Collins Award was awarded to the Girl Scouts. In the theme category, Pontiac Healthcare & Rehab won first, Vermillion Players won second and First Lutheran Church won third.
